MAC Heroine vs. MAC Pure Heroine
Today I would like to share with you beauties my thoughts on both MAC Heroine and MAC Pure Heroine. I know Pure Heroine is a Limited Edition lipstick from the MAC x Lorde collection and it is no longer available to purchase, but if you like what you see, I am sure you can hunt it down on eBay or makeup sale groups.
MAC Heroine vs. MAC Pure Heroine
COLORS
MAC Heroine is described as a bright purple with a Matte finish, it is one of the bestsellers MAC lipsticks and it is part of the permanent line. MAC Pure Heroine is described as a deep plum with an Amplified finish, it is a Limited Edition lipstick from the MAC x Lorde collection.
As you can see from my swatches below, Pure Heroine is a lot darker compare to Heroine; it is a purple plum shade with a glossy sheen, while Heroine is a lighter purple shade. Both colors are quite pigmented, Heroine could be layered to an intense purple, but it could never layered to a darker plum like Pure Heroine.
APPLICATION
Despite being a Matte, MAC Heroine applies hassle free, it wasn't drying, it did not tug nor drag; Heroine goes on with a soft shine, then after awhile it seems to set into a complete matte. It is not drying nor hydrating during wear, it wasn't uncomfortable to wear too.
MAC Pure Heroine also wears comfortably, it glides on the lips smoothly and its pigmentation is amazing!
LONGEVITY
The longest I have worn each lipstick is around six hours each and during the wear I did not bothered to touch-up at all, because every time I looked, it is in its perfect condition, no fading no feathering, it did not smear around the lips nor fades into the lip line. I was impressed!
Both MAC Heroine and MAC Pure Heroine would leave a strong pink stain after removing with waterproof makeup remover, I have worn both at the night time, gone to sleep after removing the lipsticks; and the next morning I wake up, the pink stain would still be there.

MAC Pure Heroine Lipstick
Overall, purple lipstick is not a shade I would reach for regularly, but I do think MAC Heroine is worth a spot in anyone's makeup collection. Heroine is like the perfect purple shade that is not too dark for day wear and it is also a pretty shade to wear at night time. Also, let's not forget it is part of the permanent line, and it is easily to get your hands on at MAC for USD $16.00 ~ MAC Pure Heroine is a limited edition lipstick, it is no longer available, unless if you are willing to go on a Pure Heroine hunt and pay an expensive price tag. I personally love Pure Heroine, I think it is a very unique shade; but if I have to pay a lot of money for it, I probably would skip this lipstick, in my opinion it's not a must have.

which have you tried and enjoy wearing the most?
I would love to get my hands on Pure Heroine. I love darker shades, but I wouldn't pay more than retail price for it. Also, your eyeliner is so good in these pictures!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shades!! The only thing at comes close to purple in my lippie collection is a gorgeous butter gloss from NYX which is similar to Heroine! I would LOVE to own Pure Heroine! Totally would pair it with a smokey brown eye or a slick of purple eyeliner!
ReplyDeleteGosh! how pretty are you Kay! I've always wondered about difference between the two shades. Thank you for the enlightenment..hehe
ReplyDeleteHey do you think purple would suit my warm Indian complexion? The only purple I've ever sported is Lime Crime Utopia and I kinda love it!
Both shades look gorgeous and fun! It wouldn't be something I would wear though :)
