Jeffree Star Beautylish Summer Delight Lip Box ♡ First Impression + Swatches

Ever since I returned from my Europe trip two weeks ago, I have been feeling not as motivated as I should be towards my blog; I am going through that "I'm so busy with life and I can't be bothered" phase again and I don't want to just give up as I have put my all into this blog.

I have to constantly remind myself why I started this blog and I am trying to bring back motivation.

Today I will be sharing with you the swatches and first impression of the Jeffree Star Beautylish Summer Delight Lip Box

Jeffree Star Beautylish Summer Delight Lip Box

Before I share my first impression with you, I just want to say that I am aware of the Jeffree Star drama and I think everyone has a past and people can change.

As always, I review beauty products based on the quality and performance of the item and I won't be judging the products based on the creators or their personal life.

I have tried a few of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks in the past, including the Limited Edition Dirty Money grey-toned green liquid lipstick that I have reviewed here. My feelings toward these liquid lipstick is confusing, sometimes I absolutely adore them and sometimes it's so meh ~ I think it all depends on the colors, most of them are very long wearing and conformable during wear, and some of them are just so drying that the products starts peeling off during wear.

The Jeffree Star Beautylish Summer Delight Lip Box includes three of the newest liquid lipsticks from the Summer 2016 Collection, these are Limited Edition products and they are packaged in a neon yellow and pink packaging.

I bought the Summer Delight Lip Box mainly for the packaging, as I love the designed on the box; and also I had my eyes on the shade Watermelon Soda, but I wasn't able to buy it on its' own as it is a popular shade and it was sold out before I could reach for it.

The Summer Delight Lip Box includes Velour Liquid Lipstick shades in Watermelon Soda, Nude Beach and Virginity and these liquid lipsticks claims to goes on opaque, dries completely matte and stay on for hours. I agree to all except that they forgot to mention both Nude Beach and Virginity will only suit those with very pale skin tones.

JEFFREE STAR WATERMELON SODA is a neon pink red that looked absolutely gorgeous in online promotion photos and hand swatches, but it didn't look as good on me, (non of the colors from this set looked good on me, hence no lip swatches). The color has an opaque finish, but it was also streaky upon application. Apart from the bad applications and looking weird on me, I actually really liked Watermelon Soda as it was lightweight during wear, transfer-proof and it does not feathered.

JEFFREE STAR NUDE BEACH is described as a unique nude that claims to look really cool on different skin tones; sorry Jeffree, I disagree to your claim as it looked horrible on me! Nude Beach was the hardest to apply out of all three shades, it was very streaky and it takes three to four layers to cover the whole lips, once I am done applying the product, it then felt very heavy and when it dries down it starts to crack. The color was also the worst out of the three, it looked like a pale, dirty yellow when completely dried matte.

JEFFREE STAR VIRGINITY is a pasty lavender that made me looked very pale and looked as if I was unhealthy. I can just imagine how beautiful it would look on people with a lighter skin tone. Virginity isn't as opaque as the darker shades and it takes more than two layers of application to cover the whole lips. I find that it was drying and not so lightweight during wear, not sure on its' longevity as the longest I have worn it was half an hour.

JEFFREE STAR SUMMER DELIGHT LIP BOX has given me a not-so-great first impression, but I can't really complaint as I did expect it to be not-so-great prior to placing my order. I knew that the colors included would be either too neon or too light for me, but I still wanted to buy this because of the packaging of the box and also the watermelon scent of this product.

The watermelon scent was especially made for the Summer 2016 Collection, but it was a disappointment too as it smells like chemical.

Forget the negatives, there are some positive thoughts on the Summer Delight lip Box too. The colors swatched beautifully on hand and Watermelon Soda is the best shade out of the three. As mentioned, I love the design of the box and I adore the neon yellow packaging with the pink stars.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick ♡ Dirty Money Review + Swatches

Jeffree Star Dirty Money Liquid Lipstick
Jeffree Star Dirty Money Liquid Lipstick

Today I will be reviewing the Jeffree Star Dirty Money Liquid Lipstick that I have purchased months ago. I have previously tried a few other shades of the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks and later sold them all because they weren't what I have expected; I mean they are great qualities, but I just didn't enjoy them as much. I only decided to buy Dirty Money because the color is so different and so unique.

Jeffree Star Dirty Money Liquid Lipstick

Jeffree Star Dirty Money Liquid Lipstick is described as a look of cold cash as its color is inspired by money (American money). It is a limited edition liquid lipstick that claims to goes on opaque and dries completely matte that will stay on for hours.

Jeffree Star's makeup products are 100% vegan and cruelty free and with each of their liquid lipsticks, they have suggested to exfoliate your lips before use, also avoid food with oil so that the formula stays on foreverrrrr.

♥ PACKAGING
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks comes packaged in a bright pink box with gold stars prints in the front, the liquid lipstick name is printed on a pink sticker and pasted on the top of the box and the sides of the box has all kinds of details like where the product is made and what ingredients are included etc... The actual product comes in a clear tube with pretty pink caps that has the same star design as the cardboard box. The liquid lipstick comes with a short wand and a large sized doe foot applicator which made applications much easier.

♥ FORMULA
The formula of these liquid lipsticks are creamy and liquid-y and they dry down to a complete matte in two minutes. They are not ideal for layered as the more you apply, they thicker and heavier it feels, but these doesn't crack and peel off when layered over and over. Most of the time Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks does not need to be layered over as these are insanely pigmented; the only time I do layer the liquid lipstick is when these dries to a matte and the inner lips looks bare.

♥ SCENT
Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks doesn't have any scents, no gross paint smell or sweet lolly scents. It's just absolutely no smell at all. The ones that are sensitive to scented lip products would find these amazing and the one that loves scented products (like myself) probably cannot stand it (cause I can't!).

♥ APPLICATION
The large, chunky doe foot applicator makes application much easier as it is able to deliver a full coverage with just one swipe. Application is sometimes messy as these are liquid formula but the applicator is easy to work with.

♥ DURING WEAR
Ever since Jeffree Star released his liquid lipstick line, I have owned Redrum, I'm Royalty, Prom Night, I'm Nude, Celebrity Skin, Queen Supreme, 715 and non of those I have worn over 30 minutes per application. I really wanted to try and see how these really wear and I did tested Dirty Money for over an hour, that was the longest I could make it. These liquid lipsticks does wear comfortably if you don't layer the products, they feel weightless and feel almost not there. Each of the liquid lipstick is full of pigmentation, they were hard to remove even with waterproof lip remover and they stain afterwards. The reason that I have purchased, sold them and re-purchased again is because these are actually pretty amazing, I love their pigmentation and formula etc; but there is just something not right and at the same time I want to own them all because they are amazing... SO COMPLICATED RIGHT?!

♥ DIRTY MONEY
Dirty Money is as stated inspired by the color of American money. The color is so unique that I fell in love with it as soon as I saw swatches of the shade on Instagram. Dirty Money fits its name perfectly as it's got that dirty green shade with a bit of grey. I know the color is not everyday wearable and I probably would be too scared to wear it out, but I just love it and it was one of the 'must have' items in my wishlist.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks ♥ [Redrum], [I'm Royalty] & [Prom Night] First Impressions

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Jeffree Star Cosmetics, the stunning kiss-proof velour liquid lipsticks that everyone is talking about!

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Today I am bringing you an in-depth first impression post of the three Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks that I own. I will be introducing the brand and the products to you (as usual), as well as showing you some beautiful swatches (only arm swatch this time).

Jeffree Star claims these Velour Liquid Lipsticks dries completely matte and will stay on for hours; so I assume these are waterproof and they won't remove themselves even if I rub them etc... I have made two gif images to proof whether these velour liquid lipsticks are what they claim to be, you may, or may not be surprise at the results.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Jeffree Star Cosmetics is created by a self-made makeup artist, fashion designer, musician and model. I have been a fan of Jeffree Star since his "scene queen" Myspace days, don't try to deny it and says you have not gone through the whole 'scene' phase during your teenage years, cause we all did!

Jeffree Star has always dreamed of creating his own brand, and after years of experiences in the beauty industry, he has finally launched his own cosmetics line and so far he has created three "most light weight liquid-to-matte lipsticks on the market". As stated in Jeffree Star Cosmetics' About Me section, Jeffree Star will be adding more products to his beauty brand in the future, products such as regular lipsticks, lip scrubs and eyeshadow palettes. I am so excited!

Oh, almost forgot to mention, Jeffree Star's cosmetics line is cruelty-free; yay for animal lovers!

Now, let's talk the packaging! It gets me excited every single time when it comes to products packaging, especially when the design is pink and girly!

The outer packaging of these Velour Liquid Lipsticks is so cute and totally Jeffree Star style! It comes packaged in a bright pink cardboard box that features five metallic gold stars in the front, the back and both sides of the box is covered in details such as the ingredients and where this product is made in etc...

I didn't know where these are made in when I placed my order, there weren't any information stating where its made etc on the website, but when I received my parcel, I was super glad to see that these liquid lipsticks are made in USA!

The packaging of the liquid lipstick is simply yet pretty, each liquid lipstick comes packaged in a clear tube that shows its actual color of the product inside. The top part and the cap is packaged in the same style and colors as the outer packaging, it also features metallic gold stars.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick features a large size doe-foot applicator, the wand is soft and chunky and it applies smoothly. I have done several attempts with the lip swatch, but it all fails due to the watery consistency, I couldn't line my lips properly, feeling frustrated like I did when I first tried out the Lime Crime Velvetines; they are quite similar.

I’M ROYALTY
"A royal purple for any diva who wants to make a statement"

PROM NIGHT
"The brightest matte pink in the world!"

REDRUM
"The perfect cool toned red that looks amazing on any skin tone"

In the swatches below, you can see how amazingly pigmented these liquid lipsticks are. I'm Royalty reminds me of Pretty Zombie Cosmetics' 3 Witches liquid lipstick, while Prom Night looks very similar to Lime Crime Pink Velvetine. I don't own anything quite similar to Redrum, the closest I have is Australis Velourlips in NY-CEE, both are liquid lipsticks, but Australis Velourlips' consistency is more moussey than watery and its formula cakes up when applies too much.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick's formula and texture is very similar to Lime Crime Velvetines, the only things I feel is different is the scent; Lime Crime Velvetines smells sweet like candy, while Jeffree Star's ones doesn't smell like anything, it would be great for people who prefers scentless lip products.

Also, Lime Crime Velvetines sets very fast, while Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks takes last east 10 mintues to fully dry. *see below*, I had a little incident just within two minutes of applying the liquid lipsticks, my hair got stuck to my arm and turn my swatches into some little art.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

As you can see above, it seems to dry into a  matte finish after 10 minutes, but if you look closely at the top where I have applied a bit too much, it still seems like it's not fully dry. I waited another five minutes to let the top bits dry and I was getting frustrated as it just looks like what I saw five minutes ago.

So I end up filming my running water and rub test without having my arm swatches fully dry into a matte finish, the running water test came out great! The gif image below proves that these liquid lipsticks are waterproof and you could go swimming with them on!

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

The rub test was also a success, until I rub the not-yet-dry part and it turns into this mess...

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

A lot of people who has reviewed the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks has mentioned how hard it is to remove these, it sounded almost painful when bloggers claims they had rub their lips harshly and the products still won't come off; and that really scares me!

Is it really as bad as people claims? I haven't had any experience of wearing these on my lip mores than a couple of minutes so I can't comment on that right now; but I did left my arm swatch on for a couple of hours before removing them with an oil-free makeup remover, I have used a total of three cotton pads to fully remove the liquid lipstick and during the removal, there weren't any rubbing or harsh acting towards my skin.

I plan on writing a comparison post of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick and the Lime Crime Velvetine, in that 'future' post, I will be showing some lip swatches, then I can see how good they wear and how hard they are to remove. Who's excited? cause I am ;)

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks retails at USD $18.00 each, or you can grab the bundle of three for USD $48.00; shipping was USD $10.95 and they took over three weeks to arrive.

These liquid lipsticks are so popular, every time I look on the website, it's always sold out! If you are based in New Zealand, these can be purchase via complexions.co.nz (NZD $27.95 each).

Have you tried Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks? What are your thoughts?
