Too Faced Born This Way Foundation First Impression + Vanilla, Light Beige & Sand Swatches ♡

Hello beauties

First of all, I want to apologise for being MIA for way too long! My plan was to never completely quit this beauty blog as I have mentioned previously that I do really enjoy blogging and that I love interacting with people from around the world who shares the same passion as me; but, due to my new position at work, I was not able to concentrate on my blog, which lead me to taking a full break.

Now that I have had a month of training on my current work position, I am no longer stressing and I have decided to restart my beauty blog. If you haven't notice, I have changed my blog name and my blog theme; the blog is now neater and prettier, don't you think?!

Anyway, today I want to share with you a first impression of the new Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. I was able to try a two weeks trial of the foundation before making a big decision on buying the full-size, which I think it is quite nice to try a product before buying, especially when it comes to foundation.

Anyone else guilty of spending too much on the wrong shades or wrong formulas on their foundations?

Born This Way is a new oil-free foundation that Too Faced has recently came out with, it claims to cover imperfections with its medium-to-full coverage and delivers a natural-looking, luminous and flawless complexion.

Too Faced Born This Way is currently available in twelve shades ranging from the lightest "porcelain" shade to a deep "caramel"; and last I heard, Too Faced will be adding six new shades to the collection by the end of the year.

I was able to try three shades from the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, and they are Vanilla (third from the lightest), Light Beige (sixth from the lightest) and Sand (fourth from the darkest). I think if I was to choose my shade online without trying these colours in person, it would be pretty difficult because all the light shades looks quite similar in their promotional pictures.

Vanilla - fair / light with neutral-to-pink undertones.

Light Beige - light / medium with neutral-to-golden undertones.

Sand - medium / tan with neutral-to-golden undertones.

Out of all three colours I have tried, Light Beige (light/medium with neutral-to-golden undertones) is the most suitable colours for me at the moment, in summer I may have to wear a shade darker, but right now in winter it is the perfect shade.

During my two weeks trials of trying out the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation, I love the way it made my skin look when I applied the foundation in the morning, it looks absolutely flawless with only one pump of the product. The foundation is medium-to-full coverage and it does covers majority of the redness around my nose, it doesn't emphasise dry patches on my face, nor does it emphasise my pores. I love that it feels so lightweight, felt as if I wasn't wearing makeup on the day, but still has very smooth skin.

The only thing that disappoints me is the oil-free claims, maybe this foundation is not made for people with oily skin.

Some of my all time favourite foundations that I own would sometimes make my T-zone oily during the day, especially in a humid environment and that is understandable, till this day I haven't come across a foundation that last me through the day without my T-zone getting oily.

When Too Faced claims it is an oil-free foundation, I thought it would be one of those suitable for oily skin, of course, I was wrong, the foundation doesn't slides down or fade away, but it did made my face looked very shinny after just four hours of wearing time. On days that it is very very cold, the foundation stays perfectly throughout the day, but on days that is a little warmer, my face would become a disco ball, even after blotting with oil-blotting papers, it feels heavy and it looks shinny. I just don't know where all these oils come from?!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation didn't perform too well on my oily skin during the two weeks trial, but overall it is a good foundation and I would recommend it for people with normal to dry skin.

Have you tried Born This Way?

  6. Yay!! So glad you're back to blogging! I noticed the blog changes right away and they look good although I do miss the pink theme you had going on! My blog is long OVERDUE for a blog design upgrade, I'm not so sure of how to do it myself so I think I'm going to invest $20-40 on a template and get it installed in the near future! I've never tried any foundation from too faced before as they seem to be most famous for their bronzers and lipsticks. I really love how you got that sample pack! I've never seen or been able to get anything like that, it's never uncommon for people in singapore to ask for samples it's just not in the culture here. Also we rarely get samples too but when it comes to foundation it's really the best if we could get a sample before investing in a full bottle! I like the sound of the formula! My skin recently has had slight dry patches leaving me at odds with my typical heavy coating of powder!

  8. I haven't tried this myself, but I really want to see what the Porcelain shade is like! I really struggle to find ones that are pale enough for me.

  9. It's working great on my dry skin, but I read complaints from people with oily skin (so this may not be the best for them unless they use a mattifying primer).
