Carousel Cosmetics ☆ That's What She Said ♥

Carousel Cosmetics - That's What She Said

Has anyone heard of Carousel Cosmetics? Me neither ~ Well not until I upload these pictures, sat down and ready to blog, that's when I also did some research on this brand.

I bought this lipstick from Beauty Bliss when they were having a 20% off everything promotion on their website two days ago and of course I had to get something, I have been eyeing the Carousel Cosmetics range since Beauty Bliss annouce these on their Facebook page.

I usually do my research and make sure the items works for me before I place an order, but for lipsticks, it's a different story. I rarely do research on lipsticks and I buy all types of brands, formulas and colors of lipsticks as long as they are not made in China. (Hopefully no one is offended by this, I just have a fear of buying cosmetics that are made in China).

Anyway, I did some research on this brand and it seems like it's a New Zealand brand and it is created by Beauty Bliss, a NZ based online cosmetics store.

Carousel Cosmetics - That's What She Said

At the moment Carousel Cosmetics only does lipsticks and there are five shades available to purchase from this range. I have been eyeing up "Anchor Me" for a long long time, it is a gorgeoius soft pink shade with a hint of purple, kind of reminds me of MAC Snob. Too bad it's such a popular shade, it's always sold out! So I got "That's What She Said" instead.

That's What She Said ♥ is a beautiful hot pink shade, it reminds me of a mixture of Candy Yum Yum and Girl About Town. I love all types of pink lipsticks and this one is so bright and girly, it's kinda like a Barbie shade which I think it suits me very nicely.

According to Beauty Bliss, the lipsticks in the Carousel Cosmetics range are fun, vibrant and bold. The texture is described as creamy, non-drying and long lasting. I have yet to try these on my lips, cause you all know how scare I am of lipstick stains. So when I am not familiar with a lipstick, I would rather test it out on my hand first.

Let's just say I have made a great decision of swatching these on my wrist first, cause these stainnns ~ I have had "That's What She Said" swatched once on my wrist since dinner time last night and after I took the below picture of the swatch, I have removed with a makeup remover wipe, had a shower later on around 10pm and when I got out of the shower I was surpised to see the lipstick stain is still there. So I went to sleep and woke up at around 11am this morning, the stain have faded a lot, but there's still a little bit of stains left. Wow ~ It is very long lasting! It lasted up to 20 hours on my wrist, I am guessing these could last up to 8 hours no problem on the lips! Even with all the eating, drinking and... smooching?! I will have to update you all on this when I get a chance to wear it ;)

The texture of the Carousel Cosmetics lipstick is really amazing, when I swatched the lipstick on my wrist, it is very creamy. I can just imagine how smoothly it could apply on the lips!

Although I am a huge fan of the shade and the formula, I am not that fond of the packaging. If you have been a long time reader of my blog, you would know I buy everything based on its packagings and the Carousel Cosmetics doesn't appeal to me. Let's just say I would not purchase this if Carousel Cosmetics isn't a New Zealand based cosmetic line.

Carousel Cosmetics lipstick comes packaged in a black lipstick tube with a white carousel horse silhouette printed on top along with white writtings of "Carousel Cosmetics". The packaging may seem boring and doesn't really match its brand name, I must say the quality of the lipstick tube is very sturdy and it gives you that high quality feel.

I ended up purchasing "That's What She Said" because I like to support New Zealand owned cosmetics brands, these are designed and marketed in NZ, but they are made in the USA. I have purchased from Beauty Bliss numerous times and each time they have left me with such great impressions, which is why I always go back and I highly recommend Beauty Bliss to everyone.

The Carousel Cosmetics lipsticks are available to purchase for $19.00 each on Beauty Bliss, they current ships within New Zealand and to Australia as well, but if you don't live in either of these countries, you can contact them and they will sort out a shipping option for you. <-- Talk about amazing service!

So far I am loving Carousel Cosmetics ~ I know I haven't own it long enough to fully judge the cosmetic line or its products, but so far the lipstick is giving a good impression. I already have plans of collecting the other four Carousel lipsticks.

What do you think of Carousel Cosmetics? Will you give it a try?

  2. The colour is gorgeous!! I agree with you on the packaging being so plain and not matching the name. I've never heard of Carousel Cosmetics before but the name sounds so fun they could have really played with the packaging for that reason

    1. It'd be nicer if the packaging is all like sparkling and or colorful like an actual carousel!

  3. Oh wowza that shade is sooo gorgeous! I totally am a fan of pinks like this! I too wouldn't buy make up from china if possible, skincare especially. Even if the company is in charge of the formulation and ingredients I much rather be safe!

  6. Thanks for the awesome review!! Carousel is only a couple of weeks old so we're still tweaking things - hopefully we'll have new packaging once we grow the brand a little more.
