Etude House Lock n' Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion (SUCH A LONG NAME!) is a cushion type foundation with a limited edition packaging that launched with the Etude House Lock n' Summer collection.
Pretty sure the Lock n' Summer collection was launched in July this year, Etude House has released this collection for the summer seasons as the products from this collection are all waterproof and long-wearing.
This is my first time trying a cushion foundation and so far I am loving the results! Especially when it lasted through-out 8 hours of hot environment at work.

PACKAGING:
○ Boring
○ Not appealing
○ Not summery enough for me
It seems like Etude House is not doing so well with their cute packaging lately, a few of the new collections that came out this year aren't as CUTE as their old designs look. For example, the Lock n' Summer collection limited edition packaging is boring, it's not summery enough! At least add a palm tree or a happy sun to the design to go with the summer theme. Does the heart and the stars on the case screams SUMMER? LOL NO!
Here is another example, Etude House has recently launched the Princess Happy Ending Disney collection which I have purchased a lipstick and a blush (will review it soon). Usually when a cute Disney cosmetics collection launch, I would purchase every single item that is available; but for the new Etude House collection, I only bought two items cause the packaging is just... not enough cuteness! The Princess Happy Ending Disney collection doesn't appeal to me as much as it should be, it doesn't make me want to break my bank, it's pretty much just MEH~
Anyway, the Etude House Lock n' Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion comes packaged in a dual lid compact, the compact is chunky and it's just big enough for me to grip onto. The compact is white features blue writing of "ETUDE HOUSE", "L♡CK N' SUMMER", "PRECIOUS MINERAL", "Proof Any Cushion" and three stars.
There is a blue sponge when the compact opens and underneath the sponge is another lid which is suppose to keep the cushion foundation from drying out and away from germs. There is also a nice-size mirror when you open up the compacts, love it when a compact comes with a mirror, there may be 99% of the time you don't need it, but it comes in handy when you need a mirror for touch-ups.
I have recently just discovered that you can change the cushion part once it's finished and you will only need to buy a refill of the cushion foundation, not the whole compact! (Gosh, where have I been hiding under?!) That's pretty cool, don't you think? Just buying the refill can save you a lot of money!

Etude House Lock n' Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion
There are two shades available from the Etude House Lock n' Summer Mineral Proof Any Cushion, I have the shade "W13 Natural Beige", if I remember it correctly, this is the darker shade of the two selection.
I am NC25 for MAC and Etude House W13 Natural Beige is like a perfect shade for NC25 in winter if I wear a sheerer coverage, I have yet to try it in summer thou, it might be too light for the summer season. I went for a foundation match at an Estee Lauder counter and I was told if a foundation is too light, you can always add a bronzer. ^^ When I go for a full coverage, this cushion foundation tends to turn my face ghostly white and it feels very heavy on.
I have worn the mineral proof any cushion to work a few times and while I love the long-lasting and non-oily face, I still think it looks a bit white and ghostly on me, my face and my neck doesn't seem to match. So instead of wearing to work, I have started wearing this only when I do Asian drama role-plays for my Chinese blog.
Here is a picture of me wearing the Lock n' Summer Mineral Proof Any Cushion in W13 Natural Beige, I borrowed the picture from my other blog ~ :p
OVERALL RATING: 4/5
Packaging:
(I wish the design is more summery)
Pigmentation:
(Full coverage can covers redness, blemish and darkness)
Application:
(Applies nicely with the sponge, press lightly, pat lightly on face for a "no makeup" makeup sheer coverage look)
Longevity:
(Last up to 8 hours on a hot day in the office)
Shade Selection:
(I wish it's available in more than two colors, what about the girls with darker skin tones?)
I have purchased mine from beautynetkorea and I have just check for you guys, it's not available on their online stores or ebay anymore. Pretty sure this is still available from other eBay sellers, if you just search 'lock n summer', it will show up.
Have you tried any products from the Lock n' Summer collection? What did you think of the packaging?
It seems a bit pale in terms of the color but a good flesh type color! I've yet to buy or try any cushions but the pigmentation and finish of this looks pretty damn good! I would be keen on trying this and I would definitely have to powder because of the humid weather here! I agree on the packaging, it's not summery or fun at all!
ReplyDeleteI love that packaging but man that's pale!
ReplyDeleteHi Kay! I thought this collection's packaging was pretty meh to be honest. I haven't tried any of them though, although the cushion blushes seem really cute! I hated my precious mineral any cushion so what I did was just remove the cushion, squirt some too light and too dark bb creams into the bottom and mix it up. Then I put the cushion on top and voila, brand new base product in cushion form ^^
ReplyDeleteI've heard that cushion makeup is very
ReplyDeletepopular in Korea :P Wowie, this sure
last long! Xx
I love these cushions! I have the same one, except not in the Lock N Summer packaging/formula. So easy to apply and it's a good match for me too!
ReplyDeleteawww you are so cute XD

I've been wanting to try this so shame it seems like there are a few problems with it - and agree, I'd expect a bit more from the packaging!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a cushion foundation before, I'm not sure I like the sound of this tbh, but it's great that it lasted that long on your skin x
