Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks ♥ [Redrum], [I'm Royalty] & [Prom Night] First Impressions

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Jeffree Star Cosmetics, the stunning kiss-proof velour liquid lipsticks that everyone is talking about!

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Today I am bringing you an in-depth first impression post of the three Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks that I own. I will be introducing the brand and the products to you (as usual), as well as showing you some beautiful swatches (only arm swatch this time).

Jeffree Star claims these Velour Liquid Lipsticks dries completely matte and will stay on for hours; so I assume these are waterproof and they won't remove themselves even if I rub them etc... I have made two gif images to proof whether these velour liquid lipsticks are what they claim to be, you may, or may not be surprise at the results.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Jeffree Star Cosmetics is created by a self-made makeup artist, fashion designer, musician and model. I have been a fan of Jeffree Star since his "scene queen" Myspace days, don't try to deny it and says you have not gone through the whole 'scene' phase during your teenage years, cause we all did!

Jeffree Star has always dreamed of creating his own brand, and after years of experiences in the beauty industry, he has finally launched his own cosmetics line and so far he has created three "most light weight liquid-to-matte lipsticks on the market". As stated in Jeffree Star Cosmetics' About Me section, Jeffree Star will be adding more products to his beauty brand in the future, products such as regular lipsticks, lip scrubs and eyeshadow palettes. I am so excited!

Oh, almost forgot to mention, Jeffree Star's cosmetics line is cruelty-free; yay for animal lovers!

Now, let's talk the packaging! It gets me excited every single time when it comes to products packaging, especially when the design is pink and girly!

The outer packaging of these Velour Liquid Lipsticks is so cute and totally Jeffree Star style! It comes packaged in a bright pink cardboard box that features five metallic gold stars in the front, the back and both sides of the box is covered in details such as the ingredients and where this product is made in etc...

I didn't know where these are made in when I placed my order, there weren't any information stating where its made etc on the website, but when I received my parcel, I was super glad to see that these liquid lipsticks are made in USA!

The packaging of the liquid lipstick is simply yet pretty, each liquid lipstick comes packaged in a clear tube that shows its actual color of the product inside. The top part and the cap is packaged in the same style and colors as the outer packaging, it also features metallic gold stars.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick features a large size doe-foot applicator, the wand is soft and chunky and it applies smoothly. I have done several attempts with the lip swatch, but it all fails due to the watery consistency, I couldn't line my lips properly, feeling frustrated like I did when I first tried out the Lime Crime Velvetines; they are quite similar.

I’M ROYALTY
"A royal purple for any diva who wants to make a statement"

PROM NIGHT
"The brightest matte pink in the world!"

REDRUM
"The perfect cool toned red that looks amazing on any skin tone"

In the swatches below, you can see how amazingly pigmented these liquid lipsticks are. I'm Royalty reminds me of Pretty Zombie Cosmetics' 3 Witches liquid lipstick, while Prom Night looks very similar to Lime Crime Pink Velvetine. I don't own anything quite similar to Redrum, the closest I have is Australis Velourlips in NY-CEE, both are liquid lipsticks, but Australis Velourlips' consistency is more moussey than watery and its formula cakes up when applies too much.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick's formula and texture is very similar to Lime Crime Velvetines, the only things I feel is different is the scent; Lime Crime Velvetines smells sweet like candy, while Jeffree Star's ones doesn't smell like anything, it would be great for people who prefers scentless lip products.

Also, Lime Crime Velvetines sets very fast, while Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks takes last east 10 mintues to fully dry. *see below*, I had a little incident just within two minutes of applying the liquid lipsticks, my hair got stuck to my arm and turn my swatches into some little art.

As you can see above, it seems to dry into a  matte finish after 10 minutes, but if you look closely at the top where I have applied a bit too much, it still seems like it's not fully dry. I waited another five minutes to let the top bits dry and I was getting frustrated as it just looks like what I saw five minutes ago.

So I end up filming my running water and rub test without having my arm swatches fully dry into a matte finish, the running water test came out great! The gif image below proves that these liquid lipsticks are waterproof and you could go swimming with them on!

The rub test was also a success, until I rub the not-yet-dry part and it turns into this mess...

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

A lot of people who has reviewed the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks has mentioned how hard it is to remove these, it sounded almost painful when bloggers claims they had rub their lips harshly and the products still won't come off; and that really scares me!

Is it really as bad as people claims? I haven't had any experience of wearing these on my lip mores than a couple of minutes so I can't comment on that right now; but I did left my arm swatch on for a couple of hours before removing them with an oil-free makeup remover, I have used a total of three cotton pads to fully remove the liquid lipstick and during the removal, there weren't any rubbing or harsh acting towards my skin.

I plan on writing a comparison post of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick and the Lime Crime Velvetine, in that 'future' post, I will be showing some lip swatches, then I can see how good they wear and how hard they are to remove. Who's excited? cause I am ;)

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks retails at USD $18.00 each, or you can grab the bundle of three for USD $48.00; shipping was USD $10.95 and they took over three weeks to arrive.

These liquid lipsticks are so popular, every time I look on the website, it's always sold out! If you are based in New Zealand, these can be purchase via complexions.co.nz (NZD $27.95 each).

Have you tried Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks? What are your thoughts?

  1. I heard about these lipsticks and wanted to try them out, but there's not a color I like right now. I love the reddy one, but I have a million reds. hahaha

    1. I heard Jeffree Star is coming out with new shades, I love the more wearable nudes so I am hoping he does come out with some nudes and everyday pinks. Do you see a trend of people and their liquid lipstick brands? Everyone has gone for the bright red, purple and pink and no one really think of the everyday wear shades.

  3. Omg, these are sooo amazing! I've heard and seen of Jeffree Star! But I never knew he had a cosmetics line! These shades are so intense and wow, the lasting quality is just freaking awesome. I would steer clear though, my lips are too dry and sensitive for such matte formulas! Hope you love wearing these!

    1. I end up selling the purple and the red, don't think I would ever wear them. I've tried the pink one and it's so similar to Lime Crime Pink Velvet!
