My Current Skincare Routines ♡ AM & PM ft. Kylie Skin, Caudalie, IT Cosmetics, Rawkanvas, The Ordinary, Glow Receipe + More!

I came across the Routine Megathread in Reddit's SkincareAddiction and it gives me an idea to share my own skincare routine on the blog.

CAUDALIE GRAPE WATER (AM + PM), this is probably the best facial sprays that I have ever purchased. The mist is so fine and it makes my face feels very hydrating and refreshing. I used to (and still do...) think that facial sprays are overrated and it's not a must-have product, but ever since I tried the Grape Water, I haven't stopped buying this product. I use it both in the AM and PM, and whenever my face is feeling heated and/or itchy, the grape water immediately calm down my face and I love it.

RAWKANVAS PURIFIED: PURIFYING CLEANSER (AM), I started seeing this brand all over my Instagram feed and I decided to give it a go. I have a lot of mix feelings about this product, it's not awful and I don't regret the purchase, but I don't love it.

First of all the packaging is very simple, which is something I like, the bottle is made of glass, it's heavy and it feels high-end. I've had a problem with the pump, where it drips down the bottle every time I push the pump and it's suppose to squeeze out the products onto your hands. I have contacted Rawkanvas and they have suggested to twist the pump a bit, which fixed the problem for a few days then it went back to being annoying again, eventually I gave up trying to fix the problem.

Secondly, the cleanser itself is so average and it definitely does not match up to its' price tag. (NZD $55 for a cleanser is consider expensive to me). It cleans like any other cleansers that you can buy from the supermarket, but it does not removes makeup.

I like the smell and I like the jelly texture. It doesn't leave my face feeling tight or dry after cleansing, which I like as well. I use this mostly in the AM and usually I would get rid of products that I don't like as much, but I decided that I am going to use this up completely and share with you an updated review on this cleanser in my next beauty empties.

KYLIE SKIN VANILLA MILK TONER (AM), I bought this bottle in May 2019, I use it every morning before applying makeup and now nearly a year after my purchase, there is still plenty left! I love this toner, it has a milky texture that leaves my face feeling soft and clean.

THE ORDINARY CAFFEINE SOLUTION 5% + EGCG (AM), this is definitely overrated in my opinion! I have read many reviews where people says it reduce their dark circles and puffiness, so far I have been using it for months (a tiny drop under my eyes every morning) and I don't see any results?!

THE ORDINARY ALPHA ARBUTIN 2% + HA (AM), I have been using this for months and I used to think that it is overrated. Until recently, I have been using it every morning before makeup applications, for two months now and I start to see the results. Although I don't have any scars on my face, I sometimes have uneven skin tone and I find that after using it every day, it visibly improves the pigmentation of my skin. My face looks much clearer now and I am more confident going out without wearing any makeup.

BLISTEX INTENSIVE REPAIR LIP BALM (AM + PM), I use this mostly before bed time and it hydrates my lips throughout the night. I also use it in the day time and whenever my lips is feeling dry. I love the refreshing mint scent and the texture is not too oily, nor too thick.

GLOW RECEIPE PINEAPPLE-C BRIGHT SERUM (PM), I never thought I would like this product, apart from the smell, but now I absolutely love it! My face feels smoother and looks brighter after continuously using it every night before bed and I have been using it for six months now. A lot of people may not like the smell, but I love it! It reminds me of eating pineapples with soy source haha.

IT COSMETICS CONFIDENCE IN A CREAM (PM), this is my favourite moisturiser of all time and I only use it at night time because the texture is very thick and the formula is a bit heavy. I like that it absorbs fairy quickly and it keeps my face hydrated during the night, my face feels so soft every morning.

MARIO BADESCU GLYOLIC EYE CREAM (PM), I don't have much to say about this eye cream as it didn't feel as luxurious on my under eye area as it claims. Although I didn't get any irritation using this product, I feel like this eye cream didn't do anything at all.

ETUDE HOUSE WONDER PORE FRESHNER AND MONSTER MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER (AM + PM), I received a sample of these to try along with the Etude House Bamboo Charcoal Cotton Pads, one of them is to be used in the AM and another to be used in the PM. I have previously tried the Monster micellar water and I thought that it's average because I am not a big fan of micellar water. I have always wanted to try the Wonder Pore Freshner and I thought that it's just okay. The charcoal cotton pads are pretty amazing though.

Most Used & Favourites Beauty Products ♡ Summer 2018

Monthly Favourites was a thing back in when I first started my blog and I have tired to follow the trend and failed most of the time because the products I use is pretty much the same every month. Although I do try out new products from time to time, it's only for a short period and then I am back with the products that I am most familiar with.

I thought maybe I should change things up a little bit and write my favourites and most used beauty products seasonally. Obviously, you won't see me in a bright coral lipstick in winter, so, maybe the idea of a seasonally favourites would make things interesting.

Starting today, March 2018, I am sharing with you my first summer favourites and most used product.

Summer Favourites 2018

Remember this haul where I shared with you my purchase of the MAC Prep + Prime Fix + in Lavender, Rose and Coconut? Well, I have been using the Lavender scent as a facial mist and I like that it's refreshing and moisturising, I also like the Sized to Go, as it's handy to carry around.

I have read an article where someone has mentioned that all Micellar Water are pretty much the same as they have the same ingredients, just different branding and different packaging. It may be true, but this claim doesn't make me stop buying Micellar Water from different brands, as you know, most of the time I buy beauty products based on its' packaging. I have been using the Etude House Monster Micellar Cleansing Water and I am absolutely in love with the coconut scent. I use about 7 or 8 makeup pads to remove a full face of makeup with this product and I always love the result, my face feels and looks very clean, it doesn't stint my eyes and it doesn't leave my face with that super squeaky clean feeling.

UD's All Nighter setting spray used to be my all time favourite, I take it every where with me and I buy several backups just incase I run out, but lately I have been using the Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray and I think this may be my new favourite. I find that it does a better job at keeping my makeup in place for longer hours.

Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray and the MAC Prep + Prime Lavender Fix + mentioned above pretty much does the same job, except that I bring the MAC Fix + with me everywhere I go and Mario Badescu is like a stay-at-home product.

If I remember it correctly, this is my third bottle of The Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution, ever since I bought my first bottle in Germany back in 2016, I have been so obsessed with this product and it has definitely made it into my holy grail list. I use this product as the first step of my makeup routine and I like that my face is a lot smoother nowadays, pimples don't randomly pop up unless it's that time of the month and it keeps my makeup stays in place throughout the day.

Summer Favourites 2018

My most used concealers this summer is the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser and the ColourPop No Filter Concealer. My favourite out of all three is definitely the TF Born This Way, I love that it's buildable, but it doesn't feel heavy, it has a great coverage and it doesn't crease during wear, also it smells like coconut and that is a big win win for me. ColourPop No Filter is also great and affordable, it has a thick and creamy texture that applies smoothly, but I dislike that it dries so fast and it doesn't give you time to blend out, so the only way to have a perfect application is to apply an area one by one, instead of covering your whole face in concealer then blend out. Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser is just an okay product to me and it's one of those that I don't really understand the hype. The thing that annoys me the most is having to twist the tube for a long time for the concealer to come out and it's probably my fault for choosing the wrong shade, I have the 'brightener' and it makes my undereye looks ghostly.

Urban Decay All Night Liquid Foundation is literally the best foundation for those with oily skin that loves a full coverage look. I have worn this foundation for more than 12 hours, apart from my nose area where my glasses often slides down and removes whatever makeup I have on the day, other parts of my face stays flawless. Although the formula is thick and creamy, it doesn't feel heavy during wear. I am in the shade #2.5 and I have also tried #3.5 which is a bit too dark on me (click here to see swatches).

CandyDoll BB Cream has been mentioned in my Best of 2014 Foundations & Concealers and 2015 Beauty Favourites. I have tried a lot of new products during 2016 and 2017 and I don't remember reaching for this BB Cream, but I have fallen in love with it again this summer. It has a liquidy texture that feels lightweight with a good coverage, it gives you that naturally dewy look and it wears for a good amount of time.

My most used primer this summer is the Mecca Multi-Purpose Plumping Balm and the Wet n Wild Coverall Primer. They are both great at keeping my makeup in face throughout the day and I love both equally. Mecca has a thicker texture while Wet n Wild is more runny, on days that I wear absolutely no makeup, just primers, I would go for Wet n Wild as it makes my face feels like a baby bum, it feels so smooth and mattifying at the same time.

Summer Favourites 2018

I bought the Guerlain Meteorites Pearls in 2014, it has been mentioned in my 2015 and my 2016 Beauty Favourites, it's definitely one of my all time favourite beauty products and as you can see in the photo above, it's been more than three years since the purchase and there is still a lot of product left. I have the shade in 'Clair' and I use it as an overall powder. I love that it's not cakey and it gives my face my absolute flawless look.

As you know I am a makeup collector and I rarely hit pan on products, especially not bronzers nor highlighters, but surprise surprise, I have hit pan on the highlighter of the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow and the Too Cool For School Art Class Bronzer. CT Film Star Bronze and Glow is another holy grail that I have talked about so much on my blog and used in almost every single makeup looks posted on here and the TCFS Bronzer is actually a newly purchased product that I was testing and preparing to review, but I can't believe that I hit pan this fast. TCFS Bronzer is literally life for those with a light skin-tone, it gives you just enough shading and you can never go over the top with this product.

NARS Double Take Overexposed Glow Highlighter was purchased in November last year and it has already become my most reached for highlighter this summer. This highlighter has lips shaped embossed on the actual product when it's brand new, which you can see it here, but as you can see I have obviously used it a lot and it just looks ugly now. I love that the highlighter gives a soft glow that looks natural and it's wearable on any occasion.

Summer Favourites 2018

I have been switching between the 3 Concept Eyes Love 3CE Cheek Maker #Orangish and NARS Dolce Vita this summer and my most reached for is definitely NARS. This is a mini sized from the Dolce Vita + Audrey Love Triangle Set. The colour seems more suitable for the winter season when looking from the pan, but when applied with a brush, it transform into a sheer rosy shade.

Summer Favourites 2018
Summer Favourites 2018

Can you believe it?! Two years ago I don't fuss over my brows and a year ago I only wear eyeshadows in makeup looks and now it's full on eyebrows and eyeshadows on a daily basis.

I started wearing eyeshadows to work towards the end of 2017 and my most reached for is definitely the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette. In my daily routine, I always use the shade 'Peaches n Cream' as the base and the shades 'Bellini', 'Luscious' or 'Candied Peach' all over my lids depending on the clothes and lip colours I am paring with on the day.

I also use ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in the shades 'Posey' or 'Tea Party' on days that I feel like I need some sparkles.

As for brows, at the moment I am obsessed with the ColourPop Precision Brow Pencil, I love that although it has a creamy texture, it doesn't break easily, it glides on precisely, smoothly and it stays on all day. I have also been using the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil, but I seem to always have this love hate thing with it. I love its slanted shaped pencil as I can draw on the most perfect brows without even trying, but I dislike that it's a little bit too waxy and sometimes it doesn't fill in the brows evenly which really frustrates me when I am running late.

Summer Favourites 2018
Summer Favourites 2018

YSL Glossy Stain is one of my favourites throughout all seasons, I love that it melts into my lips upon application and it leaves a cooling feel after application. I have the shade is 07 Corail Aquatique, it's a light orangey coral shade that is perfect the summer. (click here to see my lip swatches)

Wearing a lip gloss in New Zealand depends on the weather nor the season, and the weather could change from good to bad several times in one day, so the chances of wearing a lip gloss is not that often, but I keep buying anyway, because I love lip products.

I have been switching between the Guerlain Gloss d'Enfer Maxi Shine Lipgloss and the Too Faced Lip Injection during the summer, Guerlain Maxi Shine Gloss is another one of my favourites, I have the shade in #901 L'Oiseau de Feu and it used to be a clear gloss with golden sparkles, but as you can see, I have been wearing it with other lip colours that it has now turned into a pinky shade.

Guerlain KissKiss Roselip in Pink Me Up is a newly purchased item that I have been reaching for a lot lately, I like that it gives a sheer wash of colour, but I dislike that I have to re-apply every hour. It's pretty much a tinted lip balm, but it's not as good as the Innisfree Glow Tint.

The old name for Innisfree Glow Tint is called Innisfree Eco Flower Tint Balm, I have all five shades from the range, but the shade that I love the most and have almost emptied is 'Camellia'. This is also a tinted lip balm, but it's 100 x better than the Guerlain KissKiss Roselip. It's a lot more pigmented, the colours doesn't fade throughout meals and there's no need to re-apply hourly as the colour stays on for forevers.

MAC Hug Me Lipstick came as part of the MAC Look In A Box Natural Flare Collection in 2017, the lipstick is part of the permanent range, so it can be purchased individually. I have been reaching for this a lot through the summer, it's a stable in my purse, hence why it looks so wobbly right now as it has melted and fixed in the fridge too many times. I get compliments every time I wear this and that is probably why I am currently obsessed with it.

Lastly, I have been using MAC Shadescents in Candy Yum Yum almost every day during the summer, while it is described as a flirty scent, the bottle is bright and girly and the overall scent and packaging screams summer, my main purpose is to empty this bottle so that I can buy a new perfume that I have been eyeing up for ages. MAC Shadescents aren't bad but I am just not really feeling it.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening ♡ Haul + Swatches

Mecca Maxima opened a store in Auckland CBD on August 3rd and it was the happiest day of my life since I started working in the city.

Just incase that you haven't noticed my obsession with Mecca Beauty, or you're a new visitor here (welcome to my blog!), I have featured plenty of hauls from Mecca since I started my blog. I absolutely adore their website because they have majority of the brands that are hard to get my hands on in New Zealand and their prices are surprisingly affordable compare to other websites.

Mecca Maxima does have a store in Newmarket, but I have never been because it's just too far away from me. So I have been shopping on their website all these times.

On the day of the Auckland store opening, I heard that it was crazy in the morning, people waited overnight just to be the first to enter the store and to that point, I only just realised that they are actually SO MANY people in Auckland that loves makeup as much as me.

I went during lunch time and I waited in line for 30 minutes, and as soon as I stepped into the store, it was so overwhelming! I had less than 30 minutes to shop and I just didn't want to leave. Obviously, I wasn't satisfied with the little time I had in the store at lunch time, that I went back again after work and I waited in line for another 30 minutes.

At the end of the day, it was SO SATISFYING walking out with three bags full of makeup and right then it reminds me of that scene from Gossip Girl where Blair Waldorf was carrying several shopping bags, walking on the street, feeling SO DAMN CONFIDENT!

 Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul

Tonight I am excited to share with you all the goodies that I bought from Mecca Maxima during their Auckland opening! Let me just say that it feels SOOOO GOOD to be able to touch these products in person and swatch these in store before buying.

For those of you who has been following my blog for a very long time and you have seen plenty of my overseas makeup hauls, you may have noticed that I am not a fussy person when it comes to buying makeup online, sometimes I make bad decisions with the colour selections and I would end up regretting my purchase, but most of the time I buy these products because I am a makeup collector. So it didn't really matter to me if I had to swatch these products in person before buying, but when I was finally able to do it, it was very exciting.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Soap & Glory

SOAP & GLORY 3-In-1 Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash is described as a multi-tasker that deeply cleanses, purifies, removes all traces of makeup and gently exfoliates in a single action to promote a smooth and clarified complexion.

SOAP & GLORY Off Your Face Cleansing Cloths is a naturally exfoliating and antioxidant-rich cleansing cloth that removes dirt, makeup and debris. This is my first time trying out this product and I am already loving it. I love that it smells minty and grapefruit-ish and it removes makeup like magic. The only silly thing that I have done was not noticing there is actually a peel-off opening on the top, so I have opened it on the side and let's just hope that it doesn't dry out too quick.

SOAP & GLORY The Breakfast Scrub is infused with golden sugar scrub particles and banana, almond and honey extracts. This is one of the brand's best sellers and I have been dying to try it.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation
Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation

URBAN DECAY All Nighter Liquid Foundation is a full coverage foundation that claims to be waterproof, oil-free, matte and ultra long wearing. The girls at the store told me that this foundation would wear up to 24 hours and is perfect for oily skin.

I was matched the shade 3.5 (light with subtle pink undertone) and I didn't realised that it's a little too dark and orange on me until I saw that my face didn't match my neck. Besides that, I like the coverage of this foundation, but I dislike that it clings to all dry patches on your skin and it makes those dry bits looks flaky. With the wearing time, I would say that it's good as long as you carry a powder with you and touch up during the day, otherwise, your face will look very shiny, but good thing is that the foundation doesn't move around or fades away. The longest time I have worn this foundation was 14 hours.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Mario Badescu Facial Spray

MARIO BADESCU Facial Sprays With Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater is the brand's iconic, best-selling facial mist, it is the ultimate pick-me-up refreshing and hydrating mist that can be used anytime. The one with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea also refresh and re-energise tired sand dull skin. I haven't tried Mario Badescu products because the brand gives me the impression that they are more interested with people with dry skin.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray

URBAN DECAY De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray claims to prevents your makeup look from sliding, smudging or fading throughout the day. I am sure it works the same as all other setting sprays out there, but I was just curious of the difference between this and the All Nighter Setting Spray, which I have used for years and love so much of.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss
Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss

TOO FACED Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss is described as a high-shine, sheer colour oil tint with a sweet peach scent. I actually bought this because Rainie Tian (Chinese Youtuber) recommends it. I saw it in one of her recent video where she did a lip swatch of this lip gloss and it leaves that nicely sheer tinted orange shade that looks really pretty on her.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick
Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick

TOO FACED Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick is described as a super matte lip product with an opaque colour that does not transfer or smudge. I already have one of these which was featured in this post and I absolutely love the formula. I love that it's matte without the drying, uncomfortable feel during wear and it is super opaque and long lasting. This time I bought the shade in Queen B and it is described as a soft mauve.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is one of NAR's iconic product, it has a beautiful, luminous lightweight finish that creates a softer and smoother looking complexion. A little goes a long way, the coverage is buildable, it is long wearing and crease-proof. I have tried a tester of this in the past and I thought Vanilla (tiny cast of pink for the fair complexion) was perfect for brightening up the under-eye area, but this time I was matched with Custard (yellow tone for light to medium complexion), I was told that Custard is suitable for brightening up my under-eye area while looking natural.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Pink Leopard Brightening Bronzers
Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Pink Leopard Brightening Bronzers

TOO FACED Pink Leopard Brightening Bronzer combines gorgeous shades of golden bronzes, glided pinks and neutral fawns to brighten skin and create a glorious sun-kissed glow. Pink Leopard was part of the Little Black Book Of Bronzers that came out in 2014, although, I don't have much memory of this bronzer, I have always been crazy about leopard prints.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter
Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter
Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter

TOO FACED Love Light Prismatic Highlighter claims to deliver a seriously glowing cheekbone in a single sweep with its' liquid-to-powder finish. I have heard really bad reviews on this highlighter, people weren't impressed with how sheer the glow is, but when I swatched it in store, I was actually quite impressed with the pigmentation, not to mention that the heart shaped packaging is absolutely gorgeous! I bought the shade in Ray Of Light.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Patchology Detox SmartMud No Mess Mud Masque

PATCHOLOGY Detox SmartMud No Mess Mud Masque is a revolutionary detoxifying mude sheet masque that purified your skin without leaving any pore-clogging debris behind, it claims to minimise skin's impurities and maximise the glow on your face. The words "No Mess Mud Masque" was what caught my attention because usually mud mask are pretty messy.

Mecca Maxima Auckland Opening Haul - Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub

FRANK BODY Original Coffee Scrub is formulated with roasted and ground robusta coffee beans to smooth, hydrate and nourish dry flaky skin. I have finally tried out this product after seeing so many raves about it and I got to say that I LOVE IT! If you are a coffee lover, you would love this as it has that strong coffee scent that will wake you up in the morning. It does get pretty messy in the shower, but it does leave your skin baby smooth.

Lastly, Mecca Maxima had a envelope wall on the day of the Auckland store opening and anyone that spends over $90 can pick an envelope and receive a free gift. I was really lucky on the day, I picked an envelope that says I was able to get a TOO FACED Totally Cute Eyeshadow Palette! I have been eyeing up this palette for a very long time, but it's one of those products that I don't actually need and I want it because it's cute. The eyeshadow palette features a mixture of everyday soft neutrals and wearable bright shades. The texture is a little bit powdery, but it is very pigmented and the formula is soft, smooth and easy to blend. It also comes with a sheet of stickers that allows you decorate your palette.
